Kerry Group invests $20 million in new facility in India
Irish food & beverage giant Kerry Group has inaugurated a €20 million site in Tumkur, India.
Located 120 km from Bangalore, the 40,600-square-metre facility marks the group’s fourth significant investment in India and will create 300 new jobs.
The facility will serve Southwest Asian customers of Kerry Taste & Nutrition, one of the group’s three divisions along with Consumer Foods and Agribusiness, and will support sustainable production. The plant has been constructed with the capacity to deliver more of its future energy needs from renewable sources. It is equipped with energy efficient LED technology and maximises natural light to reduce energy consumption. Water harvesting measures reduce water intake and wastewater is treated and reused on site. The facility also operates a zero waste to landfill policy.
In December, Kerry announced the acquisition of two US businesses for a total of €325 million in a move to strengthen its foodservice positioning: Ariake USA, the North American business of Ariake Japan Co, and Southeastern Mills’ North American coatings and seasonings business.
